Auto to Manual Tranny Pedal ?.....Help me out...
I'm going to shortly be doing an auto to manual swap on my 93 EJ1 and for the most part I've got everything I need. I've got the clutch pedal but everything I've read says I need all 3 pedals from a manual. Is this true or can I use my gas/brake pedals I currently have. I've looked at both sets of pedals and I don't see the difference unless there's something I'm missing. As for the clutch pedal, it's completely independant of the other two, not like on my brother's 91 where the entire assembly is 1 pc( I know b/c I helped him replace it...what a pita)....Can anyone tell me why I would need the gas/brake pedal assembly or can I use what I've got?TIA

Re: (jerbear!)
so I can use the gas/brake pedals already in my car and just install the clutch...nice....so what's the deal with everyone saying you have to switch all 3?

Re: (igo4bmx)
actually, that's one of the few differences I noticed, but the clutch will sit so far left of it I couldn't see any interference issues....

well, I don't have gigantic feet so like you said, worst that can happen is it doesn't work and I have to buy the manual set. Otherwise, I saved some time and money...guess we'll see.....thanks guys for your input....

Re: (slambedcivic)
why?....as far as I can tell the only advantage is ergonomics....I'm at least going to keep what I've got right now and see how it works....I've got access to the manual pedals if/when I need them so I'm not worried about that aspect....

Re: (nimblecivic)
In my Integra, I did that.
Stock large brake pedal with the clutch on the side. If you have large feet or wear large shoes/boots all the time, it will be very difficult for you.
The two pedals are about half a centimeter apart (at least on mine). In the beginning, you will probably accidently hit both. But you will get used to it in about 3 days or so.
I can show you pics if you want.

Re: (TERRANCe)
exactly like the last guy said, i thought i could get away with using the auto brake pedal on my 93 ex, but that **** sits too close. So close that when you step on the clutch, you'll sometimes catch the brake. I found it to be real annoying and just swapped the brake pedals.
swap the brake pedal, its not that hard and its easier then putting a whole manual pedal assembly in.

Re: (coachkellum)
actually i dont mind my auto brake pedal. although the clutch pedal and brake pedal are close, i don't mind it. i simply removed the rubber boot from the brake pedal and will put skateboard grip tape over it. it's actually a pretty decent setup for heel and toe

Aren't you supposed to heel-toe with the brake/gas?

He's exactly right. when my car went through the auto to manual conversion, i got a manual brake pedal, and a clutch pedal for about $2.50 at a local junkyard

Re: (Smith Wise)
for all you guys that think I'm cheaping out, that's not it at all, I'm just getting answers from both sides...much like in this thread....basically what I'm finding out is that while it can be done there's the chance of it being an inconvenience. Other than that there's no other issues.
For those who say just get the manual brake pedal, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the gas/brake pedal assembly was one unit so pulling one means pulling the entire assembly....
It's lookin' like I'm going to go with the manual pedals mainly just for a cleaner look if nothing else....I'm **** as **** about my car....and in the long run it will probably work out better anyways....

I have done numerous auto to manual swaps and it up to you if you want to change the brake pedal the only problem is its too long. you can cut it if you want or replace it with manual pedal. The brake pedal and gas pedal utilizes the same bracket and can be taken out seperately
