auto to manual swap? what do i need?
 

i'm going from auto to hydro 5 speed? I know i need all the lines slave cylinder pedals what else would i need?

I did mine early this year to my civic. You need 5 speed pedals, master and slave cylinder, clutch lines,flywheel,clutch,5 speed starter,shift linkage with shifter,gas cable(autos are different), 5 speed computer,tranny of course, lower front tranny mount,customize the tranny mount(top,need to lower 1.5 inches),and some rewiring. good luck.

pedals,clutch line,master cylinder and slave about 120 used flywheel,clutch,and starter about 60 $ used tranny it depends which model you get cx,vx,dx,Si about 150$ other misc. stuff about 60 $ so roughly about 300 big Ones

2fast is right except for a few things. You only need the clutch and manual brake pedal. Also theres no need for the throttle cable. If you do not have welding skills I suggest you purchase an auto-manual conversion mount from either hasport or HCP. I got my HCP from jdmshit.com for $130. And the last thing is the front right stopper, which I assume that 2fast means is the one that bolts on to the front of the tranny and to the body right by the front passenger wheel. I saw a really good write up a while ago but I can't seem to find it in the search. Anyone got it saved or know where I can get it? $600 doesn't seem bad at all. I heard you can stick to the auto tranny if you trick it into thinking it is in Park so you can turn off the car and take the keys out. I've been considering this for a while. I figured I could start collecting parts and get it done over Thanksgiving or Christmas. I would probaby buy the most expensive thing first so I would have to commit to it though. LOL.

this is what a shop came up with for me since I'm considering in doing it too...labor from a shop thats a sponsor here at HT was quoted as ~700 for labor. Unless I find a nice write up here..i prob will end up going with the shop..its $$$ but i guess want it done right the first time

I did it myself, trust me its extremely easy. Dont be intimidated by it, just do lots of research. There alot of good info in the archives. Search for keywords:AUTO and Manual and youll come up with lots of good write ups. Take your time to gather all the parts you need.

I've been reading through all the pages and I've noticed people have different price estimations. I hear $600 to $2500. Since it IS the tranny and its quite important, I don't wanna take the extremely cheap route, but then again I don't wanna so much that it would be cheaper just to trade the car or sell for a manual.

so....I will spend the next few hours, or days if I get lazy to find the best prices to give an accurate quote for those intersted. BTW, I'm looking at new prices since you can get an idea on how much the used parts would be. Post if you know where to get good deals!

price always varies, what car? and what engine?

i.e. it might cost more to convert a b-series engine rather than a d-series engine.
