auto - manual, nonvtec - vtec conversion at one tim
Get some advice from you guys, i got a 93 civic where the head blew, decided to swap stock 1.5 auto to a 1.6 manual.
manual problem - Did all the bastard changes to get the manual working (including the extended tranny mount) but i'm missing something with the shifter that stops the shifter from moving when in gear (shifter has huge play while in gear) , tranny works fine but i don't know what peice i'm missing.
vtec problem - i installed a manual rpm switch and did a some rough testing to see when it should activate. Figured around 5,200 -5,500 feels optimum. Vtec kicks in smooth and can hear the diffrence, but i don't feel that much more of a pull , its almost seems like just a make louder noise switch. Ecu was switched from auto-manual but is still a non vtec ecu ( gonna get piggy back system, didn't see the need). I am guessing the ecu is not giving more fuel with the increased air flow. Anyone have suggestions?

for ur shifter problem, get some brand new prothane or any urethane equilivant shifter bushings. runs about 20 bukks for a set and they r either sohc or dohc set.
as for vtec, is the new motor a single cam still or dual cam? if its single cam, yeah well its no miracle. if its dual, i say switch ecus with someone to c, mostly it is.

Re: (CivicSiRX)
Gonna see if i can find a place selling the bushings, that should help.
The vtec is sohc and i wasn't expecting much of a diffrence, but i figured i should not be able to hit my top speed of 105 in both 4th and 5th gear figuerd something under the hood was was making me loose power on the high end
