I purchased a 96 Honda Civic with an auto to manual swap already completed. The ignition in the car went, the key won't catch anymore etc. etc. I went to purchase a new ignition and I saw that they have auto & manual ignitions. I'm not sure what was changed on the car since it had the power window & lock conversion completed. The key to the door and ignition were the same.. I'm not sure if the ignition was changed or if its the auto ignition.

What exactly is the difference between the two?
Since the auto to manual swap was done will there be any additional wiring to do?

I realize I can pull the ignition and check the part #, but everything short of that what should I expect?

I don't think the ignition switch is different between the auto and manual. What do you mean the key won't catch anymore? If you mean the starter doesn't crank the engine when the key is turned to ON(III), is it possible that the problem may instead be that the AT gear position switch was not properly rewired with a starter cut relay and clutch switch?

Nono, its def. the ignition. The key spins freely inside the ignition chamber. I just noticed the auto & manual part #'s are different..
