Auto to Manual Conversion Using a Cable Transmission
Hey guys.
Is it possible to use a cable transmission on my d16y7 and avoid having to used clutch cylinder, clutch lines and such like a hydro transmission would require??
He said that all I needed was the cable tranny with all the items that go with it (manual starter, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch plate, pedal assembly).
Is this true? I'm not looking to race or anything. This is my day but I much rather drive manual. Please just answer my questions. I'm looking to be told to go b series, or to sell or trade my car. I love my car and everything about it, except that dreaded automatic transmission that is going bad.
So is it possible to used a d series cable tranny and avoid many of the headaches of a lengthy hydro tranny swap? Thanks ahead of time.

what is lengthy or a headache about a hydraulic swap?
you would still have to run all the hydraulics and then add a hydro to cable conversion on top of that.

What I heard was that I need a 5 speed cable tranny with the necessary tranny components, pedal assembly and that's about it. I was told I could use the auto linkage for the clutch and there would be no need for clutch lines and slave cylinders. Excuse my information if it's wrong. I've never done a conversion nor do I have knowledge about 5 speed transmissions.

You could use a cable transmission and pedal assembly out of an '88 - '91 Civic, but it's a lot more work than just running the hydraulic line and using the correct pedal set.
