Default Auto-Manual conversion EK9 ( shift linkage )

Has anyone of you had problems where u couldn't get it in gear? or had force it in gear a lil bit?

i recently swaped in a b18b with b16a2 tranny.
so i put tranny fluid in, then bolt the shift linkage from the tranny, made sure it was in neutrul, then bolt it up at the shifter mount. Now 1st gear would not go in most of the time, unless i put it in other gears first before i put it in 1st gear.
So when im driving it'll shift smoothly, but when i come to a stop and try to put it in 1st gear it wont engage unless i put it in other before i put it in 1st gear. there's also fluid inside the tranny, and tranny is in excellent condition.

Anyone have the same problem?
