Auto to Manual Conversion

Auto to Manual Conversion
Car is going in for a auto to manual conversion w/ Exedy Organic Clutch and ACT XACT Streetlite Flywheel.
I have a few questions, I am unclear.
I have a LX and the tranny I got is a EX.
I am planning on getting a LX manual ecu. If I get a EX ecu, it will throw a code or something about vtec or something (maybe).
If I get a LX manual ecu, I take it to Honda to do a reflash? What do I need to bring with me? Ecu? Key? How much do they cost normaly?
NOTE: This is on a 2001 Honda Civic and we have immobilizer.

Re: Auto to Manual Conversion (STL01Civic)
Interesting, isn't your civic stil under warranty?
Not many people on this board can help you with 2001 Civics.
Basicly, VTEC ECU's have extra circuitry on their boards (Or often times the circuitries there w/o the compoments). So some people solider in the VTEC compoments to convert it to a VTEC ecu. Many people just pick up the ECU corresponds to the motor to make life easier.
The closest things to Honda ECU's being reflashed for pre-2000 civics and integras is chipping the ECU so it can run off an external rom. So poeple burn chips with the map and insert these chips into the sockets. Or using an emulator to "flash" it when you're in the process of tuning it.
If you use a EX ECU, if will have check for some sensors, such has the VTS (Vtec Soleniod) and VTEC oil pressure switch/sensor. and when it fails to detect these sensors/switches, it will give you a Check Engine Light. For your situation, it is probably best to find a manuel LX ECU.
And if this conversion goes well for you, please make a documentary, information about 01++ civics is very interesting.
Good luck.
