Default audio console ?s

I recently bought the audio console for my hatch. I went to install it today but, the main frame part doesn't want to line up where it should. If I place it in the vacant area neither the top holes or the bottom that attach to the shifter console area want to line up. however if I move the frame to the right it wants to line up but the metal dash support thing is in the way. I wish I had pics to illustrate what I'm asking but my camera is still MIA in a box somewhere .

well without pics im guessing what ur problem is.. but since i have a console and i helped someone else im guessing the part circled is put in upside down or on the wrong side.(there are 2 of them, when you put it together 1 on each side. could be on the wrong side)

I do believe you might have something upside down. I think when I was installing it, I had some bracket upside down or something and it didn't line up. But I soon figured it out.

No, I'm talking about the frame itself being bolted to the shifter console and the 2 tabs up top, it doesn't want to line up unless I shift it over to the right about 1/2 - 1" and then the metal under the dash is in the way. Thanks for the help though. BTW your console looks tight with that CF piece.

I don't really think anything is assembled wrong but I'll double check everything tommorrow when the sn is back out.

how do you mean? All the holes are close...I think I'll just make it fit by making new holes n the bottom of the frame....I've gone over the direction 3 times and everything has been done correctly so far, still doesn't want to fit the way I think it should(as it appears in the directions from honda).

May sound like a dumb ? but are the sedan and coupe/hatch consoles different? it doesn't say anywhee on the box or the directions it's for any specic body type all it says is it's for a 92 civic but figured I'd ask because there appears to be no reason why it shouldn't fit together easily.

Hatch, coupe, sedan, all the same as far as the consoles go. I can't see why your frame won't fit.

Hell no! I ended up doing one better...I just cut part of the frame for the console off and it fit in there perfectly . So now it's done, is nice and sturdy still and looks good. I'll get pics as soon as I find my damn camera .

Also just wondering but are the usdm and jdm consoles different? The one I have has the cigarette plug on the driver side and the ashtray is shaped like a trapezoid....all of the ones I've found by way of shops and google images all have the cig. lighter on the passenger side and the ashtray is more rectangular looking like this one:

like I said I'll get pics soon as I find my camera.
