ATTN: EVERYONE with a b16a2 in a 96-98 CIVIC i need some help!!!
Ok here's what i got for you:
I have a 1997 CX and am swapping a B16A2 from a 2000 SI.
I need wiring help...
Do i use the 2000 si harness? and will it plug right into my CX?
Do i use the 2000 si ECU?
Do i need an obd2b - obd2a jumper harness for this to work correctly?
JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU DID WITH YOUR SWAP PLEASE.

Dude I think you have to add the VTEC solenoid wires. Seriously try searching.

yeah ur gonna need to either add the wires to ur harness or get a 96-98 ex harness, cause i think u also need to add knock sensor wires. the ex harness already has all those wires

No you can't just use the 2000 si harness from what I know...I know you have to modify you harness and change pins around. Also you will need a manual so you can connect your sensors vtec/oil pressure/knock/ect. Are you going the smog legal route of just slap that baby in and run? and expect to run around 14.8's to 15.4's with i/h/e. My friends 98 ek ran 14.5's with a 00 b16a2 with ctr cams i/h/e. But it was blessed...Extremely low mileage b16a2.

ya i thought i needed an ex harness, im pretty sure ill go that route, im not gonna run pins from my ecu for vtec, too ghetto

**** you, i'm not just adding a few wires, i wanna do it right and run a ex harness, unless the si one will work, then i am pretty sure i need to extend a couple sensors.
so it'll work if i run an obd2a to b jumper?

I believe you can swap the whole SI harness in, they are both one piece, just different ecu plugs (OBD2B instead of A). Or you could use a 99-00 EX harness.

the interior harnesses are different. it is way too much work to try to make the Si harness work in a 97. use the cx harness, run the wires you need to and you are golden. it is cake.

You're a dick. If you had tried searching you'd see that what I said is the exact same thing most people are saying. Quit bleeding, or would you like a tampon?

lol i don't want to re-pin my ECu, or splice into those wires, damn peaople.
I wanna run a harness tha thas vtec, and most likely run a jumper, i don't wanna hack up my stock harness

i know most poeple say to swap the harness with an obd2a, but does anyone know what wires you need to change on the obd2b harness to make it work in a 96 with an obd2b ecu?

You need to only run three wires!!!
- VTEC Solenoid
- VTEC Oil Pressure Switch
- Knock Sensor
Even if you get an EX harness, you need to add a knock sensor.

I just picked up an EX harness, already has a knock sensor plug. d16y8 has knock sensors too, i believe. You wan't a clean stock wiring set up.? Pick one up for your hatch. 96-98 EX manual!
You can run the SI ecu but you may need the obd2a-->obd2b conv. harness. OR just get a obd2a CTR or ITR ecu, plugged right up to your EX harness.
btw, my friend has an extra 98 ex vtec manual engine harness. he might sell it.

All you have to do is this. You car is a 97 right. use a 96-98 EX M/T wiring harness. It will plug right up plug for plug.. All you gotta then do is run the wires to the ECU and buy yourself a obd-2a to obd-2b conversion harness which is also plug and play. You can get one at http://www.locashracing.com
that way you can use the Si ECU because its obd-2b

Re: (DizzleSizzle)
yup 96-98 EX m/t wire harness, will plug and play perfect
get a obd2a-b harness if you want to use the 99-00 si ecu, or find a p30 and go obd1 with a obd2-1 harness.
good luck

and i bet it runs real good
LX have the same harness as dx/cx, which means no vtec and iacv is 3 wire instead of 2, so how did you just drop it in with no wiring?
