So early this morning at 2:30am my brother in law received a call from a police officer as he did not answer the phone when it rang. He woke up at 6:30am to find his car half way down the street... Turns out that 2 black men in an old brown car attmepted to steal it..... dumb bastards..... anyhow, nothing was taken, but the ignition and some other parts of the steering column need to be replaced now... Anyone know how much a new ignition switch is going to cost????

i would take that last photo down. you could be giving amateurs the knowledge on starting a car.

Sounds like a fuel pump cutoff switch, they were only able to drive with what was left in the line.

It was the ONLY description I was given by the police. That is why I stated it here.

Very lucky man, I live in a not so good nieghborhood. Thats why i'm pretty scared to hook up my car. On top of that there are many racers that steal cars around my area too. i guess it really doesnt matter what you are people still rob...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you have a fuel cut switch, when you stop the car, instead hit the switch and stall it. That will use up the fuel in the lines.

lets not make this thread a how-to steal a car. I'm sure your question was innocent but some people may take it as an education in another way to break into a car.
