Default Armrest question for 6th gen civics

Sorry if this is a "newb" question, but I am going to order an oem center armrest and was wondering if it got in the way when trying to shift?I know it sounds like a stupid question, but just want to make sure. Thanks. Oh yeah, I am paying 78.00 shipped for a brand new one. TIA.
