ARGH! My car makes noises while turning!
I drove home from my parents' house back to my place and discovered that there's a creeking noise when I turn the steering wheel. I didn't notice this while driving to the freeway, driving ON the freeway, or driving off the freeway. I only heard it while I was parking my car in my complex, turning at maybe 2 mph.
I scanned underneath but the CV boots are good and no unnecessary grease or anything on any part of the axles ... just the usual dust and dirt. Fenderwells and wheels are clean, too. I checked the power steering fluid, and it's full. What gives? Car drives normally ... no wobbliness or anything. Maybe it's the steering rack? Any help's appreciated.

Nope. It's perfectly quiet at idle when I'm at stoplights and stuff.

Re: ARGH! My car makes noises while turning! (Daniel)
Well, I decided to take my car out for a little test drive a few minutes ago. I made two U-turns and a bunch of lefts and rights. During the 2nd gear U-turns there were no noises. I drove up a steep you-have-to-angle-the-car shopping complex driveway, and the noise was there a little bit as well as leaving the place. And of course, parking in my complex's spot, the noise was there. But it was only WHILE I was moving. When I stopped, I turned the steering wheel left and right, and there wasn't any noise. I'm guessing the bushings somewhere are old and squeaking because the car drives perfectly fine otherwise. Does the power steering rack use bushings? If anyone else has an idea, I'm open to hear it.

Re: ARGH! My car makes noises while turning! (Daniel)
i had a similar problem with my car after a night going through the canyons...
there was a strange creeking/scratching kind of noise that started happening while i was going home...just like you, no signs of unusual wear or anything....found out that my front brake dust sheild somehow got tweeked and was rubbing against a bolt sitting on the under side of the knuckle assy....take a look...i had to simulate weight on the wheel, so i jacked up the car and rested it on some big ol wood blocks...
just a suggestion...
