If there's nothing else (aftermarket part wise) done to your car, yes.
You won't tune it better on stock settings than how it is from the factory, like padawan said, it's not pointless, but only IF you have other parts on there that would affect things. If you change your intake manifold or cam and can't afford tuning, that might be a viable option, as for just buying a VAFC and having a crack at your stock car and guessing by your butt dyno - that method's pointless. An intake, header, or exhaust won't necessarily change your torque curve so I wouldn't bother "tuning" for that, just stuff such as intake manifolds, camshafts, and beyond.
So I guess what it really comes down to, what's your budget, and what do you have done to your car as far as engine performance goes?
