If you don't REALLY know what you're doing, I'd suggest against putting in and using the VAFC (we are talking about this, right?) yourself. My friend had a Skunk2 Stage 2 GSR. He installed and tuned the thing himself without knowing exactly what he was doing. It worked well for a while, but now his car is having some SERIOUS problems. It's disheartened him to the point that he wants a car he doesn't have to work on anymore.

I'd get the thing installed and tuned by a professional, and spend the extra money.

tuning your car without knowing what you're doing only leads to bad things. either spend the money to do it right or dont do it at all. it already seems that you've spent a lot of money on the engine. why cheap out on the most important thing?

My VAFC air to fuel tune was only 100 bucks with 5 pulls on the dyno. ITS WORTH IT!

I hope you don't play with it. I got mine for free but I just leave it there. I have heard too much crap about people who mess with it and I think the risk isn't worth it for this particular situation. My $.02

well in that case i suggest you take it out and retune with something that doesnt reset itself whenever you disconnect the battery.
