Default Anything i can do to automatic??

I just sold my 12 second 93 5.0 stang to pay for college and picked up a black 93 ex 2 door civic. It's got a short ram cold air, skunk2 coilovers and exhaust, and a evo body kit (it was free). I was wondering what else i can do to the little d16 to help it out. it is an auto, so can i get anything for it? I also have ram air custom made into the light holes in the body kit. It's not that slow, just off the line bugs me with the bog. I have heard to advance the cam 2 teeth on the stock cam gear to lower the poweband some. will this work? what else? i am pretty happy with the little civic so far. i can't believe the 7200 rpms, never did that in a mustang. ADam

The car was all stock when i got it, and im new to hondas. I built the mustang from the ground up, it was my 5th one, but I needed cash so i got rid of it. The civic is nice, but what do you guys do for power besides turbos?

Honda automatics are not like Fords. They are weak and parts are expensive. More than that though is the simple fact that they will never be as fast as a manual (talking street cars here).

Level Ten (www.levelten.com) is the only company I'm aware that makes auto upgrades. Apparently their torque converter is pretty good, but I don't know anyone with it.

In all honesty you're better off swapping the auto out for a manual. You'll gain about .5 in the 1/4 just for that.

Header might or might not be worth it; depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to dump into the car. If I were you I'd get some shocks instead, and focus on making the car handle better before making it go fast.

I am getting a strut tower bar, and the bar across the floor in the back, my brother is a fabricator and makes some cool stuff. We had the triangulated sturt bar and rear shock bar in the mustang, plus subframe connectors. Im not going crazy with the civic, but I am a car guy so i tinker with it. The header is so cheap i'll prolly just get it. what kinda power does the d16 make after CAI, cat back, and header? When this motor goes out, i'll probably just swap a 5spd too, (all my stangs were).

i wouldn't jump on anything yet with out research. just a FYI use the search button and it will be your new best friend Tons of information on here. welcome to h-t.

i would service your car if you plan to keep that engine maybe couple fuelies or seafoam and change your fuel filter.

you probably wont get far with an auto just swap the bitch out and learn yourself something. you can do the swap at home and pick a motor for pretty damn cheap... heck build your own motor from the ground up.

My best advice for your car is to stay out of this section. Everyone rather buy rotas then performance parts...Goto the All-Motor, Tech, Drag Racing, and Forced Induction Forums...oh ya don't forget the classifieds. All these people will tell you is to swap trannys or to buy jdm lips and ditch the kit. Its your car do what you want.

Anyways, one thing that will help you is try going to http://www.landspeedracing.com they sell parts from a company called "PowerCore" grab there intake, head and cat. Then go with whatever exhaust you want, they make a nice one but I don't have experience with it. All the rest are the best you can get. The intake is the best on the market and the headers are damn good.

Give landspeedracing.com a call, ask for Matt and tell him Nate from Ohio reffered you.

72000 RMPS is insane bro! Never heard of that ****. What kind of ECU are you runnin'?

Anyways, with an d16, the lack of torque end power will be there no matter what, and then you have an auto, which makes it worse off the line. It's tuff going from a 12 sec car to 72000 rpm d16.

I have heard of a couple guys running a B20(2.0liter B series non-vtec engine), LS auto tranny, and a tq converter. This setup with the bolt ons, and a good set of tires will net you pretty low 15s. Throw some spray on it and you have a 14second civic.

In all honesty, save the cash for parts for the setup. Either buy a manual tranny and start deciding on boost or n/a. Or just save the cash, and do a motorswap.

Why dont you just shut up. Some people would rather work with what they have. That is all I heard when I searched around for HX info. People saying just swap it out. Just do this, just do that. He asked for advice on how to maike it faster, not what was ricey or what transmission YOU think HE should be using.

Anyway I will take my own advice and try to help you out. There is a fine line between rice and show. I think rice is more of a mentality. But lose the body kit because you are adding more weight to a car with shitty power. How far do you want to take the car. Just add some pep, maybe have a weekend warrior or have a track car. Judging from your post, one would assume that you are on a tight budget. There isnt much you can do to add power. Looking at your sig, you pretty much have the basic bolt ons covered, so you can try some cams/cam gears, maybe remove some interior. You can also try a homemade turbo kit or maybe some nitrous as someone else recommended. Automatics arent as strong or as fun as a manual but if that is what you have work with it.

you need to stop talking, if you built the d16 and tuboed it you could run mid 13's but turbo is the best power maker for hondas

Just do bolt ons. And if you want to go alot faster then swap it. If not then bolt ons will give it a bit more pep.
