anyone running just a rear swaybar?
i'm planning on installing a rear sway bar on my 99 hatch soon, i'm just wondering how this handles on the street? i know there are alot of auto-x'ers running just a rear.

i've tried it with just a jdm itr rear sway on the streets....TAIL HAPPY on hard turns! little dangerous on public roads imo.

I have a 21mm front, 13mm rear, 380f/250r springs, and ITR shocks.
I can rotate the car pretty damn easily and it's also very easy to flip it around into a 180 spin if I don't watch myself.
It all relates to your driving style. Some people prefer a very loose set-up, some prefer it to be a bit tighter and easy to control.
Personally, I have a hard enough time NOT spinning the car around with my small bars, let alone with a 22mm back there...
note: this is all related to autoxing, i have never driven fast enough on the street to rotate the car.

I run a smaller 14mm rear bar as mentioned earlier because I have 425F and 550R spring rates.
Yes it's *** happy with no front bar, but like SkyeC, I don't push my car hard enough on the street to ever loose it or even "swing" the *** end.
I will probably run a 1992-1995 Si front bar and up my rear bar to a 22mm unit though if I do any track events like on a full road course, because I'm afaid that my car might be too tail heppy at higher speeds if I really push the car hard.
More related to your situation though, my pal black2kcivic runs 450/500 springs on his 2000 hatch with an ST rear 19mm bar, no front bar, on Azenis and his car handles killer. He can hike/three wheels on easy turns at low speeds, and his *** end can come out if he so chooses.
Just remember to never brake in a turn, and you'd better be ready for some side stepping if you lift off the throttle even slightly in mid-turn. I've done this at auto-X or in empty parking lots just to get used to the car, and it's pretty controllable at lower speeds (under 45mph or so) but again I'm not sure about 50-100mph or more on a full road course.

I think that too is a 14mm unit.
What struts/springs are you running?

thats what i was wondering. i figure for normal street driving it will be fine. my setup is itr springs with kyb gr2's in back and itr struts up front. my tires are 195-50-15 sumitomo htr 200's no where near as aggressive as your friends setup but i figure it will be good for daily driving and some auto-x. thanks for the answer it helped alot.

They never came with one. Only the 1992-1995 Ex 4-door had them standard.

i was thinking the same, I am going to get either 92-95 ex 4 door lca's
or 94+teg lca and run ssr sway bars and lower strut bar

I think the ssr will work with stock civic control arms? Right?
