Anyone know what size nut for the bottom alternator bolt?
My car is a cluster****! I bought used and got ****ed!
So I jacked it up to attempt to look at replacing the knock sensor(it's throwing that code) and I see this long bolt with a square head stock out an inch from the alternator. Maybe it's loose? I attempt to tighten it and it just slides right in. I adjust my view and there's supposed to be a nut on the other end.
I'll have a pic up shortly, but if anyone knows the nut size, that would be awesome. I need to run to Lowes and grab one.

Secondary option: What happens if I slide that bolt out? I'm not familiar with these cars, but have general car knowledge. I assume there are some upper bolts holding it in place? I can tell this is designed to pivot on this bolt. If I remove it, and the other bolts are holding it in place, nothing should happen, right?

Remove the bolt and take it with you to lowes.
Although it does only pivot to adjust the belt, if the bolt comes loose, the belt may loosen up.
Dont just rely on the top bolts to hold it in place.

I sort of phrased things wrong. Will the alternator move or shift any if I remove the bolt? I was thinking to chase the bolt out with a screwdriver to something just incase.

Not sure if it will move to where you be able to put the bolt back in.
Either way, the loosen the alternator you loosen one bolt at the top and it will loosen so you can slide the bottom bolt back in.
You could try putting a screw driver in there to see if it will hold it in place.

I know for a fact that OP has access to the service manual.
Must be too exhausting just to look up the answer himself.

Frustrated and pissed is more proper, and I wouldn't have thought Honda would make it easy and spell out specific bolt and nut sizes. I haven't seen such in Chilton's which I've used for other cars.
