anyone know how to convert obd2 alternator plug to obd1 alt plug
hey i searched, and all i found was someone saying that i had to switch the plugs and that the only thing in my way were a couple of nuts and bolts
well i removed every bolt that i have access to, and there is no way to get the plug out of the OBD1 ALTERNATOR,
the obd2 easily dissambles and i an take it out, but it seems like the obd1 alt is just one big unit and it doesnt break apart into sections
please help

find an obd2 harness plug for the obd2 alternator, all wire colors are the same as the obd1 .... plug the obd2 plug then connect the wires from it to the obd1 harness plug wires that match the colors.
hope this helps.

thanks i've heard of that route, but:
#1- it is hard for me to find the obd2 plug, harnesses arent in abundance around here
#2- I was trying to avoid this because i hear that the alternator is the last place you want to have wires with restrictions

you don't want restrictions in the alternator output...and that goes directly to your battery
the plug is for regulation and monitoring by the ECU, just make sure to solder the connections

A junkyard perhaps...
Its really your only option - if you want to use an OBD2 alternator with your OBD1 harness, you need to source the OBD2 plug to graft onto the OBD1 harness.
Then use pdiggitydogg's wiring conversion chart to match the wires up.
