i got a cusco front tie bar but the bar is about LESS than half an inch SHORT. i was thinking of somehow bending it out a little bit since it's kinda like a "U" shape. anyone know how to do this?

BTW, i can't return the bar because there's already a **** of of scratches on it. i figured it was going to be scratched anyways so i just left it in my room.

I think you should be able to bend it and move it to make it fit right. A pic would help more to see if its bendable at all.

if you need to bend it then you can use a torch to heat it up and bend it. a pic will also help like Luserkid said.

or you could just get a friend and each pull on it real hard.. shouldnt be THAT hard to bend half an inch..

forgot to mention, the cusco bar sucks. first off, the fitment is off and the where the bolt goes, my socket is too big for it. i'm probably gonna grind off some parts.

i don't really care since nobody is gonna go under the car to look at it anyways.

If your going to torch it i suggest going to your local home depot and get the blow torch in a bottle. Those dont get to hot but there good enough to bend without warpage. Measure how much you need and then bend that far. Your going to need to be patient because this will take a good while.

if you do the blow torch in a bottle... you may want to think about using MAP gas instead of the usual propane for extra heat.

Not that much maybe like 20-30 bucks for the starter set (bottle, nose, tip, etc.) and then about 10 for a refill.

This looks like the best spot to torch it to bend and move it (if you need it longer). If you need it shorter torch a little higher up from that spot.

Home Depot would have it no problems. But if you dont have a tip for it its no use to get a refill you might as well get a whole kit. But if you have the tip then bring the bottle with you so you could get the same one.

i really doubt i have a bent subframe. the car has never been in an accident. tried the bar on my friend's ek and it doesn't fit either. and **** you if you think i don't have the right tools. ever seen my garage? the size of the bolt on the subframe is pretty big itself and the impact socket won't fit. i also had to trim the hole on the cusco bar so the bolt from the subframe can fit.

Impact socket? All you need is a deep socket and ratchet, unless you're a total ***** or something. Not exactly uncommon tools.

If you have the right bar for your application, your subframe is most likely out of whack. I have one on my Civic and it went on with plenty of room to spare on the holes.

DO NOT TORCH IT. Take it to a local body shop, they will have a metal bender/shaper and will do it for next to nothing.

yeah, the one i used was a thin deep socket.

sicc83, does it matter to you if i use an air compressor when working on my car? taking the bolt off from the subframe is easier with an air gun. and did you not read how i said my subframe is fine? i tried the bar on my friend's car also. and earlier i tried it on a different car just to be sure.

if you're talking to me, I did not mean to be offensive at all... having said this... I would research the bar and see if others have had this same fitting issue.... and 2.O... Use those pneumatic tools all you like! That's why people buy them.... Just make sure to do the final turns w/ a torque wrench.
