im looking for a new intake for my civic. 98 and im wondering if anyone knows from experience best intake gains. ive heard you can accully get up to 20hp gains from certain cold air intakes so im wondering if anyone has accully gotten these kinda results. post what ya got here

no intake makes that much hp.. lol if you get a JG manfold.. maybe.. but 20 hp lol.. your crazy.. RICE cant speak!

dude,my friend owns a RSX and we got a AEM CAI, and it increased his HP 20.7 . with +5.3 lb-ft more torque. i have the stats to prove the gain and they even have that setup in honda tuning . so it is possible... just have to get the perfect setup for your car.. thats what im wondering, if its possible on a civic.

You can dyno 20 hp to the wheels if you dyno your stock intake with mud and bugs clogging the filter, then dyno a brand new AEM with new filter.

The RSX gets enourmous gains from an intake. It's been proven.

now everything other b or d powered car gets about 2-3% gain realistically.

Figure it out yourself, n00b! A Jackson Racing supercharger will give you a 30-HP gain. Do you think a 3-foot long piece of aluminum tubing and a K&N air filter are going to give you 20?. Hello?!?!?!?!

read the newest honda tuning mag. they tested like 20 different intakes. the test car was an rsx, but you can still get a general idea of gains by various intakes.

1st place: aem cai added 20.7 hp / 5.3 lb.-ft.
2nd place: dc cai added 19.7 hp / 5.7 lb.-ft.
3rd place: dc dac added 9.2 hp / 2.4 lb.-ft.

go AEM for ur best bet on an intake

Since you have a 98 civic which is probably an sohc, don't expect much from any CAI, you'll probably only get 3hp to the wheels in cold weather.

yeah, i've heard that the k series engines get an unusually good response with intakes. you can see this in the post above. for a b or a d series, you will see less gains, i just posted that so you could get a comparison of the different maker's products and how well each worked. get an aem cai and call it a day. good value for the money.

If your D16 isn't hooked up to a turbo or a supercharger (or your not using nitrous) then any intake will be fine – nothing's going to give you a big gain. So, I'd just get a cheap intake and spend the money one another part of the car.

At the AEM website, they rated that the CAI added 9 hp, and 9lbs of tourque. Not bad for a piece of pipe.

Stock Honda CiViC = 105 WHP

CAI = 20 HP

Computer chips and reprogrammers = 20 HP

Underdrive pulley set = 15 HP

Cat-back exhaust and high-flow catalytic converter = 20 HP

Nitrous = 50 HP

Turbocharger system = easy 50%

Let's see that's 105 + 20 + 20 + 15 + 20 + 50 + 50% = 345 WHP, and that's just from bolt-ons.

Am I forgetting anything?
