Anyone interested in DIY engine rebuild write-up?
I'm about to do a complete teardown and rebuild of my 2000 si. The rings are fried and instead of replaceing them im going to rebuild the entire motor w/ new internals (low comp for turbo application). My question is before I donate my time to take pictures and write-up the entire process how many people will be interested in the rebuild?
Also as this will take some time ( im thinking about 1 1/2months) Would you guys like a massive write-up or like episodes seperating everything?
Just want some opinions before I start. Oh and if I video tape it how many would be interested in purchasing a copy? they would run about $20 bucks a piece.
Let me know.

I'll surely be interested in it I'm in the process of deciding on if I should swap my D-series for a b-series or try to rebuild the D or have someone else do it for me I don't have too much major engine word expertise but if you thind your rebuild will help me if I decided to rebuild my D. DO IT!!! DO IT!!! No matter it'll help people out one way or another. again DO IT!!! DO IT!!!.

ill be interested in it. i allready tore my motor down except i left the crank in. i would love to learn how to put it all back together. especially putting pistons on the rods.

Do the write up, cant have enough of them. Most are the same but its the little things you encounter that make yours different.

Id love to see the write up, it would have the potential to be VERY useful. Provided you have the right info.
As far as video goes, I would be intrested in it, but not $20 for some home movie. If I spent $20 I would expect it to hold to some standard of editing.

In honesty, most people are cheap skates and probably wouldnt buy the video to make it worth your time in doing so. The write up will get its praise and then slowly move to the archive.

It would be a great benefit for the newbies and veterans. Also a great link to add to the FAQ thread that's been going on for years now. For the video I doubt you will get a lot of people willing to buy since you know a lot people on HT are cheap bastards to begin with

I could do one...for Pontiac 400's and Chevy smallblock V8's... The closest I've been to tooling on Honda internals was removing 88 LS's oil pan.
I'd love to see a writeup, although if you go to http://www.theoldone.com they have a really good (understatement) motor writeup for a mad B20. Even if you're not doing a rebuild, its an excellent read.

Do it. I'm rebuilding the motor right now (kind of short on funds), I got the basic idea, but I would like to see how to get by without expensive measuring tools (calipers, dial bore indicatiors, and so on). The whole trip to the machine shop and so on. Complete thing.
I'm willing to paypal like 5 bucks or something to a person that does it with full detail. From A to B, no buy this, slap it on, tighten it and put it in the car (easy ****).

I just can't see a DIY on how to do an engine rebuild. There is a little more to engine rebuilding then just tearing something down and putting it back together. I guess each to his own, but honestly... if someone told me they "learned" how to rebuild thier engine off the internet, I would die laughing.

Well, I've learned how to build Honda engines by doing it for many many years. And while I was tearing apart my first D15B and rebuilding it, I would have found no shame in saying that I used on internet-based write-up or guideline or whathaveyou.
To be certain, an online DIY write-up for an engine build isn't going to make someone a professional engine builder overnight, but you can't argue that it can serve a wide variety of purposes for the less inexperienced- Ranging anywhere from bolt torque specs to visual/photographic walkthroughs...as some people definitely learn much easier visually as opposed to reading hundreds of pages of text and technical terms in a Helms manual for example.
