Default Anyone install a swaybar on an EG/EJ? *PIX*

Hey guys/gals,

I was wondering if anyone is running a sway bar (rear) on their EG/EJ's? I recently got a skunk2 unit and notice that i may have to drill the LCA's or buy DC ones to make it fit. And also, the subframe is not flat like the EK's for the mounting plates to fit properly without some big shims...(and this bar was labelled, "EG/EK/DC")
Anyone running the Skunk2 one, or a similar one on their EG/EJ? I hear the ST ones don't need drilled LCA's to fit...thanks.

Get Integra rear LCA's. They are predrilled for Swaybars

that is an option, other than drilling my existing ones (safe?). but my main concern are the mounting plates...

beaks for mounting and if the holes are drilled properly, no problems will arise.

Any rear sway bar over nothing will make some difference, noticable by you or not.

yah, my EJ didn't come with any rear sway bar. and i've been told by numerous people that it's the one bar that makes a big difference.

any 94-00 integra or 92-01 civic w/swaybars has the needed mounting point. civic si & ex, del sol si & vtec, tegs all have the exact same lca.

The honda units cost $65/w all new bushings or go find a late model ex at the junk yard. tegs & ds vtec have the best bars and endlinks. As long as it's just for looks, any size swaybar works - 13mm on civic si,ex and ds si, 15 on ds vtec, 22mm on tegs. The skunk is a bit of an overkill.

Not really, civics do not come with the same LCA as integras. You could get a DC LCA and put it on an EG to hook up the endlinks, drill a whole on your existing LCA like you said, or just by an aftermarket LCA like SRR if you want.

Actually- LS and GSR are 13mm and 14mm I believe. Only ITR has 22mm rear. And the Skunk2 bar is 21mm I think (could be off by a mm, it may be 22).

you're better off goin to a junk yard and findin the LCA's from an integra. personally, i wouldn't trust myself drilling any kind of holes into my LCAs.

what would be a good set of swaybars to get that requires little modding for my 95 civic dx coupe?

well, the drilling was just time consuming..you won't believe how strong those things are. I think the Skunk2 bar is 21mm as well. as for little modding to make one fit a DX, you might want to buy a set of the Suspension Technique bars...i believe they have a set of 'universal' fit bars for the EG/EJ. i'll try to get pix of my bar up soon. thanks for the replies folks.

Eibach = no drilling.

from this angle it looks like you have a nasty angle on your sway endlink... meaning you have a load on the bar even when not turning = no good!!

I've personally drilled the LCA on my 94 civic ex. It wasn't that hard. But, I don't recommend it for everyone, especially those that aren't handy with a drill.

At first, I was really sketched to run my car with drilled LCA...thinking it would be weak. I didn't even do the mod for about 5 months. Just had the sway bar sitting in my house. That is, until I was looking at various Hondas at the Junkyard one day and noticed an older Prelude with EXACTLY the same setup. Not kidding, Honda drilled the center of their own lower control arms and mounted a swaybar. This was completely stock on like a 90 Prelude or something. In fact, if you look at 96-2000 Civics they have a hole pre-drilled from the factory w/o swaybar, although, these are on stamped sheet metal LCA's that look totally weak.

I haven't experienced any issues with the drilled holes...although, I'm only running the 14mm GSR sway bar. But, the LCA on the EG chassis is very stout. It's cast steel and if you mount a couple of nice steel washers with the bolt, it'll hold well.

With the EK chassis, I would just get the DC Intgera LCA. I would do this with the EG too, if I weren't so cheap

ST also makes a kit for for eg's,ek's that don't come with stock swapbars so I'm guessing they just use brackets or plates to bolt it down. If anyone has the ST kit on their dx could you shoe some pics? I also posted something along the same lines but don't feel like swapping out the whole lca. I think I'll just go with the ST for 215 for both f & r.

I did the swap on my friend's car 92 vx hatch all you need is the integra lca's, swaybar, and all the mounting hardware. The D bracket's from the teg have the same steped baseplate as the civic so thers no modding. I will try to take a few pics of all the pieces so you can see what I mean but I don't have a camera I will try to find one.
