Default Anyone here running Toda C's in there B16A?

Hiya's..

I want to know what sort of power and torque you get with this setup?

If you do run this setup (or close), can you list the mods down to give me some idea's on what to do etc..

I wanna either get an EG or EK.. building it for race track (circuit). Just wanna know how they compare to the ITR's. If not i'll just bolt in a B18C5 into the civic! But would like to stick to 1.6L if i can!

I don't have them, But I know that you will need a set of cam gears to dial them in, and they have been known to make almost 30hp....they are considered among the best.

I am sure they can make 30 hp....but that is with lots of other mods such as high comp pistons, larger TB, nice expensive header with 2.5" collector, fuel tuning, cam gears...etc....

But well worth all the money Oh yeah and with the "C" spec cams I hope you don't like your nice "city" idle

Well spec C's in a tuned b16a would make around 190whp.
YOu would need, Very nice 2.5 collector header, 2.5" exhaust, aem, toda cam gears, redone ecu, bigger injectors, more compression (option), 9k redline, toda valvetrain.
Worth it IMO, i have spec b's and am very happy with them... also his idle would same as mine due to primary lobe size...
Godspeed sells a package for like 3k$, w/ almost everything you need minus header/exhaust/aem.
Also, mine idled like a cammed v8, scares the hell out of v8s ... Almost as bad a BOV....lol.
Well give Godspeed a shout and let us know how it goes.
Tho i would go for the b18c5 w/ same setup...ehehe, whp would be 210-220.. :evil grin:

I've been looking to get some spec b's. But, I hear Toda products are very touchy and difficult to install. What have you guys experienced?

I did the install on mine.
Wasnt too bad ...i'd pay to have the valvetrain installed ( a must w/ toda cams)
Its the pain to do, but if tq everything to spec, and adj the valves to their spec...it's beauty.
I'd go thru godspeed, he will awnser any questions you got and can sell you a spec b kit.
IT includes, cams, gears, valvetrain. or for a little more a tuned ecu.
But if you feel it'd be to much...have a local shop do it...

Thanks for your input guys.

My options were to (in a EK civic)

B16A - Toda C, toda valve springs & retainers, toda cam gears, typical bolt ons with Apexi power FC.

or

B18C spec R + mods listed above. <---- this setup will cost a fair bit!

or

go full sick with a B20 bottom end with the b18c head! yummie!

Mugen ....what EK, h/b or coupe?
The b16a would rev nice and be a good track motor.
Tho, the b20 will cost more than b16a i think and still not rev as high.
Just my nickel, but you'll love the spec C's on the track..eheh.

Mugen_R,

Have you heard of HYPERTUNE/Mark Bissett? He's a turbo specialist based in Kingsford NSW. His EK4 turbo kit dynos @ around 320hp, really seems to know his stuff.

Haven't spoken to him in some time, but you should seek him out.

If you are looking at a B20 setup, check out the FEEL'S/Honda Twincam.

Keng,

I think i know who you are talking about. He works at BD4's if i'm not wrong. Specializes in hondas. But more of forced induction which i'm not into. I like N/A.. so i goto ART.

Whatever you do, DO NOT just go out there and get a chiped ecu. Every car is different and you have to dyno tune it to your needs. I've been there and done that. I have run about 5 diffent progams on the dyno that people sell as 10hp upgrade chip, it does not work that way, unless you get your air/fuel ratio perfect for your setup including the timing and cam gear timing you will not see gains high enough to be noticible. Also if you go with a B20 block you are wasting your time, aspecially if you are planning to take the car to the track. B20 blocks do not have oil jets like the B18 or B16 blocks do and this will limit your reving range and you will not be able to use any cams that produce power above 8000rpm since the bottom end will not be able to handle it. Go with a stock ITR motor and you will be quite happy and it will be very reliable. Remember it is not only the car but most of all it is the driver.

Screamer,
I still think a ecu would help, but yes you would need VAFC and cam gear tuning on the dyno.
It gives you a better set of fuel and timing maps, and you can adjust according to diffrences between your motor and the one the setting were taken off of.
The best way IMO, would be a hondata or power FC if you can find someone to tune it right.
Thats the trick, i found my tuner.... and he is the ****.
