Anyone have problems running 80w/100w headlight bulbs?
Like the topic states. I want to put these higher wattage bulbs in my Civic but was wondering if the stock wiring can handle it. Or do I need an upgrade wiring kit? Anyone have any experience?

I'm running high wattage bulbs in my civic, but I'm using a high wattage harness. I haven't had any problems in over a year. Not exactly HID, but they work pretty well.

I run 80W APC headlights and they work fine for me. Previously, I had been using 80W Matrix headlights. I know APC is lame and all that, but their headlights were like twice as bright as the Matrix ones. Anyways, the headlights worked out fine for me. No explosions or anything, but the Matrix ones only lasted a year or so. Not sure how long the APC lights will last. It's funny, they both died at the same time. One died and then the other died like a week later. So, yeah, I'd say they're safe...but they might not last you as long as the lower wattage bulbs.

cool thanks. I have a VW and they can't run the higher wattage bulbs without having the harness. Everything melts if you try to run it, so I just wanted to make sure

I used to have Nokya Arctic Whites and my drivers side harness melted. not the wires but the actual plastic that clips onto the bulb.

80/100's lasted a year and a half for me. driverside went south finally but 5 pairs is still cheaper than a HID conversion.
