Anyone have experience with ELECTRIC impact drivers?
I need to know if they have enough torque to break, let's say, an axle end nut. I've been looking for an excuse to get one, and now I can't get get this damn axle nut off, even with my 3 foot breaker bar.
If not.....Hey Tom! Would you mind if I came down to your shop to use your air tools for a bit?!

good luck getting an axle nut off with a impact.
Last time I popped virigin axle nuts off, it was all 200 lbs of me on the end of a 2 foot bar and bouncing up and down. That's like 400 ft lbs

Electric "power" tools always suck. No exceptions. It'll take a lot of weight, a big prybar and a friend holding the breaker steady to get em off. Just did it two weekends ago on an 88 CRX.

Thank you, exactly what I needed. I was just putting in the wrong search parameters I guess.
I weigh 235 lbs, so you would think that, combined with the leverage of a 3 ft breaker, would pop that thing off. But, I was starting to round off the nut and decided to call it a day.

i've used my friends makita impact gun and it seems like it could take off an axle nut or crank pulley. but i'm not sure, since we only used it to take off suspension parts.
