Anyone got a stock 96-00 DX 5-Speed? Does it feel underpowered??
I was wondering if anyone has or has ever driven a stock 96-00 DX Coupe stick...i just wanted to know if it feel sluggish or underpowered. Does it have any kick due to it being a stick? Hows acceleration from a stop and is it like ridiculously slow when speeding up to higher miles per hour? Thankyou

lol...so the acceleration off the line with a dx totally sucks even with a stick but its got decent speed and acceleration on the highway? like is it even possible to pass a car on the highway if it is also going somewhat fast?

DX's aren't THAT bad, the main hinderance is the tranny. Throw a Y8 tranny on there and you're much better off. Build a turbo setup, and you will love it even more.

the tranny gear ratio is to long for a low power motor?? the DX motor just needs to breath better.. i seen DX hitting 16s with a basic bolt on.
TurboTagTeam about your signature... what about drifters>>?? (sorry to highjack)

Wow, those DX's are flying now!
Y8 tranny + mini me swap should make it manageable. I went from a 200 hp turbo D16Z6 to a Y7 hatch. It's still fun if you put a Y8 tranny on it.

ive got a y7 with a few y8 parts (heads, TB) I wonder how much I can snag a y8 tranny.
Especially one with low mileage to match my low mileage engine, (below 40K)

I had a CX y7 tranny with my turbo kit..I have never had such a long 3rd gear in any car! They are meant to run lower rpms for fuel mileage

i went from a 95 GSR runnin mid 14's with a few bolt ons to 92 SI hatch with dx motor so it felt slow, swaped tranny to y8(ex) and a custom turbo set-up and was back in the low 14's. turbo does kick ***

agreed.. Or just boost it and keep the tranny for the tiny longer gears.

Re: (TheIntegraGuy)
I'm driving a stock 97 dx right now. Because I just bought it last monh. It is crazy slow my roomates 92 maxima can kick the **** out of it. If it wasn't a five speed I would hate it. I am trying to find parts to do a mini me on it but i can't find a manual ex ecu or gauge cluster anywhere. I am enjoying th 35 mile per gallon though.
