anyone ever fix their car stuttering problems?
First off id just like to say, i know this subject has been beat to death. I have SEARCHED and read most of the archived threads about it but most of the threads just end and have no conclusion to the problem.
Well if anybody can relate and decides to help me out, here is the situation.
Car was misfiring like crazy low in the rpm band once the engine got warm and it was having a tough time starting up. So i replaced the plugs, wires, distributor, cap, and fuel filter. Didnt help it all. I had just put new bosch plugs (POSes) in, but i had read that the NGKs work soo much better so i put those in. And wahla.....problem fixed.....so i thought.
Well the starting and low rpm misfire problem was cured. But to my suprise it was still missing/ stutering at around 3k-4k in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. But this new problem is very minor. Car also feels a little slower then normal. So now im like wtf.... and have come here for help....
clogged cat? fuel pump? bad o2 sensor?
Oh ya, car is 94ex, with a d16z6 motor, about 120k on the clock, and no codes being thrown.
thanks for the help, and please dont tell me to search

Yup. I have the same problem, only at 2k. Basically exhausted my options as well, so I'm going to replace the dizzy guts and take it from there.

Re: anyone ever fix their car stuttering problems? (civdog)
a couple nights ago my check engine light came on and i was like wtf?!? next thing i know when i take my car out of gear the rpms went straight down to 600 and even 500 (and it'll shake like crazy like its going to die on me but after a couple of seconds it would slowly creep up to 750-800). being it was past 11pm i couldn't check to see what was wrong with it and just unplugged the positive battery cable and plugged it back in to take care of the check engine light. this morning my car started right up but once i got to a stop sign (no more than 1/4 mile from my house) it would vibrate like crazy and shoot the rpms down. it drove me nuts! funny thing is i fixed the problem with a quick run to target for some fuel injector cleaner and my shell station for a full tank of premium gas. i was lucky...

Replace the ignitor, but might as well replace the whole dizzy
Same exact thing happens in my friends car (he cant afford a new dizzy)
You're lucky..He cant even rev past 3k, but when he could, only at 3-4k it would back fire.

I have surging when cruising at 2000 RPM. Tried another ignitor. Did a tune up. Replaced fuel filter again. Removed TB and cleaned it out. Cleaned PCV. Tested O2 sensor. It's done it on two distributers on the same engine. But get this: it's done it on two engines! Before and after a swap. Two different ECUs. Two different trannys. Upgraded the fuel pump. I'm still using my DX exhaust manifold on the ZC engine, but I dont think that could be the cause. I don't think its the cat cuz the car runs great.
For smog and mileage, I T'd the fuel canister vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator port since there isn't any available vacuum ports on the ZC engine. Nothing wrong with that, right?
I keep meaning to get a vacuum gauge test kit.

check all your wiring for shorts. did you use the same wiring harness for both engines? have you changed your fuel filter?

Same wiring harness. Shorts on which circuit? I have a DVM. What would be the best way of testing the wires?
Changed the fuel filter.
Changed the fuel filter.

test your tw sensor if it is out of range the pcm thinks the coolant/engine temp is way different than it actualy is causing starting and driveability problems
