A lot of people are still running a D-series motor.

Check that for upgrades and such.

there are lots of ways to get power from the D. Turbo is probably the fastest and cheapest, unless you want to spray NAWS but that only gives you temporary power gains. You could build a monster VTEC single slammer with high-compression pistons and get good power, or just swap in a D16Z6 or a D16y8 gets you about 30hp or so pretty cheap. Lots of options, you can also do a Jackson racing supercharger. Then again by the time you build a monster D you can have a good stock B which will probably make as much if not more power and not be so high-strung.

I have the d15 in my CRX DX. I have been considering a B16A, building it, then turbocharging down the road. I am now beginning to consider building the lil' D15 up, then turbocharging it. Why? It's cheap! My only concern is that I might put a lot of money into the D, and have it blow a week later...whereas a B16 is tough..

Do bolt ons only - if you blow a D it's ALOT cheaper to replace than the B. Think of it as expendable, and push the envelope. You get to keep the bolt-ons for your next motor - With proper tuning D's can handle some horsies - about 200whp on stock rods (D16). At the right weight that'll get you into the low 13's high 12's.
I love my D.
