I have a 98 Civic hatch and it has a salvaged title. It has been fixed and has passed everything...the only thing left now is the CHP inspection. Has anybody gone through this inspection yet? I am just trying to get a heads up on what to expect.

im goin 2m for a chp inspection cause i didnt have a vin plate on my dash so i hope i pass but i heard its pretty easy to pass but im not sure

I just took my car to DMV and they did the VIN verification there.... with that done (on a US car), they said that there's no need to go to CHP then as they would have done the same. This was in Northern California also.... So Cal is different, as I'm finding out .

will the CHP say anything if I write up my own receipts with the seller's info??

uhmmm. my friend bought a salvaged car and tried to do the same thing. from my understanding the chp officer needed receipts for everything that was replaced. my friend bought some doors and a hood off the recycler and the chp officer wouldnt accept that... he needed receipts for the parts form a dealer/auto salvage yard..which really sucked. hope that helps somewhat

I went through the same process as what you're going through. I bought my car, which was salvaged. Tooked it to DMV for visual inspection, failed. The VIN from the engine firewall and the door was not matching. Had to go to CHP.

Took it to CHP with all my receipts for the parts. They checked it. Took about 1 hour. Passed. Drove home.

Just have all the receipts for the parts that you purchased then you are good to go.
