sorry for posting here (and it's my first post!) but i couldn't post in the general category as i'm on probation...

anyway, i'm helping a friend buy a new crv in the atlanta area (emory student). i've contacted a bunch of local honda dealers and in every case they are adding a large 'doc fee' of between $400-600 onto the price of the car. i'm just going by the bottom line figure but it is making a difference--given the quotes i've gotten so far i could buy the car more cheaply in other parts of the country and that doesn't make sense to me.

anyway, are any of you familiar with this practice in the atlanta area and are there any local dealers that don't add on the 'doc fee'? i think it's really for local marketing which i have no interest in paying for on top of the cost of the car....
