I have a 99 ex, and im wanting to swap in a obd1 LS longblock. i know idealy i should run a obd1 p75 with a jumper, but i have a obd2 p75 laying around, so if i just jump it from obd2b-obd2a i will have that covered. but my question is, will this have any real negative affect on the motor? i know i will have a cel for a missing sensor or 2, but thats not really a big deal concerning a CEL. but will that affect the motor? thanks.

the only thing i think it may effect is the dizzy, idk about the obd1/2 connectors.

its also illegal to swap in a motor thats older than the car so if your from cali they may give you ****.

i think you can run a ob2 dizzy from a ls on your obd1 ls, enjoy

you can ^, obd1 and obd1 dizzys are the same internally, it's just the connectors that are different.

the obd2 ecu will look for a crankshaft fluctuation sensor, and your car will not run without it. luckily there is an easy way to bypass it

and yes you will throw a code for a missing secondary o2 sensor.

he should already have a secondary O2 being its a 99 EX so it shouldn't throw a code for that. You'll need to use your EX injectors for plug and play. Also you'll need to swap alternator plugs. Also if I'm not mistaken you'll need to rewire your intake air temperature sensor for the OBD1 style plug due to yours being in the intake arm and the B18's is in the intake manifold, that or place your IAT in whatever intake arm you use. Just repin your distributor to run the OBD1 from the LS.

whats up with all the wire junkies here on h-t, no you dont swap alternater plugs you just swap the alternater, and i thought the tps sensor plug was the same on obd1 and obd2

not everyone has an OBD2 alternator laying around as a spare, but as an alternative to swapping the plugs you can go this route

opted not to get the motor, found out it was actually obd0, i would rather just order a b20 and be headache free. still good information i have always wondered about. thanks for all the help guys
