Any other EG owners with a B17??
Hey, I need to know if there are any other people on this board with a b17 motor in their 92-95 civic? I would really like to be able to talk to some of you guys about tech stuff? So if you have a b17 in your EG, please respond and maybe you could help me out. Thanks!

well, i need to know how to hook up the vacuum lines on my engine, specifically the nipple on the back driver side of the intake manifold, right next to where the FPR line goes int the back of the intake manifold. I didnt think any other engine beside the b17 had this nipple, but I could be wrong.

I'm pretty sure Katman from http://www.jdmhondaparts.com and the FF-Squad had a B17 in his black EG (it was stolen from him).

Why did they make the B17 with such low compression? Its something like 9.7:1, right?

B17's were hard to come by because it was only a US motor...they weren't really in big supply. Not to mention a lot of the DA GS-Rs are still up and running. I am sure there are more users here with a B17, but I bet you won't find too many

Plug it up with a rubber "nipple" commonly found at auto parts store (NOT Kragen or Autozone), that means your local independent auto parts store. I will be dropping a B17 w/ P30's in my VX soon. So if you have any more questions, feel free to IM me. BTW, that extra outlet is for the purge valve found on the firewalls of the DAs which is of no use in the OBD-1 and newer cars.

thanks guys, i was told to take out the black box in the center of the firewall with the two vacuum lines running to it? Was this the correct thing to do?

The black box on the VX firewall is the EVAP box, you won't be needing it. On my old DA, the two purge valves along with the MAP sensor was mounted on the firewall. I'm not sure if the 92-93 GSR had the MAP sensor mounted on the firewall as well or on the throttle body. In any case, those two purge valves are not needed for a swap into a EG, so you're good to go. You'll enjoy it. While it might not have as much torque as the B18C, and we're only talking about a 3-8lb-ft loss, here, you're still a bit better off than the B16's. I would estimate the torque to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 115-123lb-ft with a stock B17.
