Any idea what's wrong with my engine?
Car is a 2000 Civic Si. About a year ago, I had a Vortech S/C on it, and it started running like **** and had a CEL. The code ended up being Misfire in Cyl #3. So I ended replacing cap, rotor, plug wires and it still was there. So I did a compression test, and it was, from left to right on the motor:
185 - 90 - 210 - 210
I had people telling me that it could be a bad ring, fried piston, something with the valves. Well, flash forward to today. For a number of reasons, I had to leave the car sitting for almost a year. But I finally started working on it. Someone told me to do another compression check, so I did, and got the same numbers. They also said to squirt some oil in the spark plug holes, and see if the compression goes up. SO I did. The first one went from 185 to about 275. The second one went from 90 to about 110-120. I never did the last two, since there didnt seem to be anythign wrong with them.
So the whole point of this post is to see if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem is. I'm very nervous about having to rip the motor apart, since I've never done anything major like that before, and I don't have a garage, so this will have to be done in my driveway most likely.

90 compression is bad, but then again the motor has been sitting for a yr and not at operating temperature. is it throwing any codes? if its a misfire, usually its a bad dizzy, wire, plug, or your timing is off

well it was at 90 compression last year before it sat. And it doesn't have any codes yet, but it also hasn't ran that much since I put the battery in it and started it up.

Nervous or not - what are your other options? Us guessing isn't solving anything.
Crack it open...take some pics.

agreed unless you get in there you will never really know what the problem is.

Sometimes that is the best way opening it up because without doing that you're simply going to be guessing the whole time

Re: (Runnerdown)
Ha, yea I used to live down in Coxsackie. ANd I went to the park and ride on night to pick up my impact driver from a kid. I'm up in Glens Falls now.
I'd really like to find someone local that can either do this for me, or at least be there to help when I expletive something up.
