Default antenna block off / ipod question

i herd that with some cars the only way to get the itrip to work right it to take off the antenna. would a block off plate work for this or just kill the radio all together. i hoping some one has experence with this.

In my understanding, the iTrip creates a radio frequency that your head unit picks up, so having an antenna could only be a good thing.

not sure what you mean?

you mean to get sound from your ipod to go thru your cars antena?

ya thiers a way preaty easy...
first ya need a RF modual, then it plugs INLINE with your cars antena wire. NOT DELETING your antena wire.....
then you power the modual from a switch when you wanna activate it to listen to your ipod or what ever...........
then just hook up some RCA wires from your ipod to the modual and then ya just turn on the switch, turn on your ipod, and tune the radio into the preset freq its set at usualy 89.1FM or right around thier and thier ya go!

I think for the iTrip to work you need to get a radio signal. If you have no antenna you won't be able to do this. I thought about this the other day, and I don't think it would work. I took out my antenna and used the block off plate, I'll try to borrow my friends iTrip and try it out.

The iTrip blows (in all cars). I would get the tape thing.

The inline connector that plugs in before your antenna is the way to go.

I bought the Ipod DLO, it's a loading jack where the IPOD goes into. You then program the DLO to the radio station you what to use ie: 99.1, then on your radio you set it to the same as the DLO ie: 99.1, and you are good to go. And yes a car antenna is best, or else it will sound crummy!

i dont understand why everyone goes with this itrip crap...its like you take the new age (mp3 players) and take it back to the old age (radio)...ive heard people's itrips and they arent the best quality....imho it is not worth it to go with itrip or anything like that, i would look into a direct plug in type thing...i know that alpine sells something like that where after you plug the ipod in you can control your ipod from the stereo face instead of off of the ipod.

Some of us don't have that luxury. I have an ITR radio in my Civic, and that doesn't give me that option obviously. It's an inconvience for me to carry CDs around with me when all my songs are on my iPod. Unfourtantly, it looks like I'm going to have to use CDs.
