Icon5 another year another rebuild. D16Y8

Hey there honda-techies. So it's been just about a year since i rebuilt my d16y8 and i have it torn apart again. I sucked up a bit of water in my cold air intake and since then the car has misfired at idle (flashing cel) when its cold and then just reeks of gas when warm. I did a compression test and cylinder one was ~100 while the others were ~195 psi. pulled the engine apart and found a good bit of shavings in the oil pan. all the rod bearings look new still but i took off the girdle this time and found that the shavings came from 2 of the main bearings. what my question is, did the water cause the main bearing damage? or did it possibly blow my head gasket out on cylinder 1? rods still look straight and pistons/rings look fine. same with the headgasket. I couldn't see any obvious signs of a blowout. car didn't smoke at all just was dumping gas on cylinder 1. i plan on ordering some main bearings and main bolts then slapping it all back together. let me know what you guys think.

Thanks.

rod bearings still look new

That sucks, what did you do to the engine when you rebuild it last year?

I rebuilt the engine last year because it had blow by and burned oil like mad. what i did was got new rings, rod bearings, honed the cylinders, head gasket, water pump, timing belt, and valve seals. car ran great after that until i sucked up some water. it was my first rebuild too. honestly i was pretty surprised it lasted this long haha.

Thats cool, I almost did all that work... when I took the engine out of my car last year for the head gasket job..I was only shy of new piston rings, bearings. and honing the cylinders.. In my case my head gasket went, and after driving it like that for a while my valve seals went bad so I decided to save the engine and do a refresh.. with new seals(Rear Main, front main, oil pan, cam shaft seal etc,,) New head gasket, etc..
