Default Another shift linkage HELP needed removal thread! Pics inside!

Cardomain.com is not allowing pic uploads until Sunday (tomm.), so I am having to upload them to geocities.com

Ok, here are the links to the pics I took of my shift linkage. I have looked on c-speed racing and mine seems to look different than theirs.

Please feel free to upload the pics to a site that allows direct linkage and add text to explain what the hell I am suppose to do.

My goal today before going to work was to get the exhaust disconnected and the shift linkage out. I got the exhaust (2 bolts WOW ) and the shift linkage is still intact.....

http://www.geocities.com/lx98civic/SwapDay01.html

Click on the pics to make them larger..... Save and add text as needed please

Pull the scrunchy boot looking thing down an you will see the b#tch pin. Unbolt the stationary bar from the tranny, and for the shift linkage pin I used a a/c tensioning bolt to get the pin out. It will mushroom the bolt so don't plan on using it again.

Put it in third gear and that will extend the shift lincage out of the tranny and you will see where the pin is, taking it out is one of the hardest parts of the swap.

Default To the Top with direct linking pics!!

I got the pics uploaded for direct linking....

If someone could go into detail using the pics provided that would be really helpful. If you could put text onto the photo and show what needs to be done that would be great

Here are various pics of the shift linkage at the tranny:

This is where the shifter enters the vehicle. I just believe there are 2 12mm bolts to remove at this point.

that boot there - push it back and you'll see a pin - or you'll see a C clip (it is where the shift linkage attaches to the transmission via a circular pin. It prevents the pin from slipping out), move that and you'll see the pin. Then you have the enjoyment to hammer it out with a pick or something. good luck, took me forever!

and just unbolt all the others.

Ok, thanks! Guess I'll need a new boot for the GSR's shift linkage unless it's already on it. I can't remember. All I know is I've got to get that damn shift linkage off TODAY!!!!

I also need to unhook all the lines and have the engine ready to pull tonight or tommorrow.

Thanks!

I'm working on the bitch pin right now. And it's being a bitch

I only have a 5/32 punch so I may have to run to the store and pick upa 1/4" one. I have tried a 1/4" allen key but have NO luck with it

I didn't have very many problems with it. Here's what I ended up doing for future reference. I used a 12 MM ac compressor bolt with a deep well 12MM socket and two big *** extensions. I put the bolt in the Socket and connected the big *** extensions, then ran them down through the top of the engine bay onto the bitch pin. Then hammered on the end of the extensions until pop, it came right out. 6 beatings max. When putting in the gsr engine, it doesn't look like you can access it from the top but you can on the cx motor.

from my other post but may be helpfull

you wanna use a 1/4 quarted inch FLAT tap. DO NOT use a pointed one. the pin is expandable..... so when you use a pointed tap it exapands the pin instead and making it harder to push out. hope that helps.

I used a phillips head screwdriver and a hammer. This was definatly the hardest part of my swap too.

That is VERY good advice right there. I learned the hardway a while ago....cost me another trip to the hardware store That pin is a pain, but can come out relatively easily with an air hammer and the right adapter (I air tools) The AC bolt also works very well, I have used that trick in the past. The best part about the bitch pin...putting it back in. For me, that is harder than taking it out. You have to get the linkage and the linkage input shaft lined up perfectly and then try putting that piece of **** pin in from the bottom of the car while you are laying under neath it...big ******* pain Sorry, I'm ranting...

If you can't even remove shift linkage, you are gonna have some big troubles with your swap.

After trying with the 5/32 punch and the mini-sledge hammer I gave up for a few. Found a Snap-on socket extender that was exactly 1/4" and fit right with the bitch pin. After about 15 or so hits, that bitch flew out the top

Axles, shift linkage, exhaust are all disconnected. Got to work up top now
