Another HID Question: 96-00 'Projector' Headlights better for HIDs?
Well after MTK and others suggested that the OEM style headlights arent a very good platform for adding HID's, I was wondering if something like these:

would be a better canidate, then I could just pain the insides to get rid of some of the rice. Thanks for any input.

yes they would be, and in order to get the best beam pattern and cutoff line you should retro-fit an oem set of projectors in them. like audi or bmw or s2000. you can find them on ebay for about 400$ which is what you will pay for a brend new set of bulbs and balasts anyway, plus you will get the oem projectors. good luck

check this site out. this is a link to his s2000 projector swap, but he has also done the s4 swap and lexus reflector swaps in his stock headlights. good stuff...

Probably a n00b question, but why don't they use HID's for the high beams? Is it because of the warm up time? Do all HIDs need to warm up?

Cost, probably. Do you want to spend $500 on bulbs and ballasts for lights you don't get to use often?

yeah your best bet would be to buy those, paint the housing black and retrofit some OEM HID projectors in there..
