Another, Different oil change question
Okay, for all those that helped me with the filter, thank you very much, i appreciate it.
Now I have another question. I filled the car back up with oil. 3 full 1 quart bottles, and then approx 25 oz out of the last bottle, making for right around 3.8 quarts, which is what the owners manual specifies for my car. But when I put the dip stick in, it was above the top dot.
What could cause this?? Is it the fact that the filter wasn't full of oil yet, or other parts of the engine weren't full yet??
Thanks!!

Re: Another, Different oil change question (Briman2021)
Is the car warmed to normal temperature?
Are you on level ground?
Those could be 2 reasons you are getting an incorrect reading.
ADDED: If the oil is over filled. I had the same problem my last oil change. I didn't want to waste $16 of Mobil 1 so I took the drain bolt out to where it drained very slowly into a drip pan. After a few minutes I rechecked and it was good to go I didn't even have to jack the car up or anything like that. The car is not lowered. I just placed my head underneath and my long breaker bar to loosen the bolt and re-torqued once completed

yep, mother nature and gravity could ruin your readings.
