Default Another Carbon fiber hood issue.

Well i bolted the hood up last night it fits well, the only issue I am having is that the hood won't latch onto the OEM hood latch in the front of the hood. It hits it where it suppose to but it doesn't shut, i lubricated the springs and latch itself and still no luck. I don't want to drop the hood or press down because i don't want to break it. I can't afford hood pins yet.

Ill post a picture later tonight when i get home from work. any help till now would be great.

You couldn't break it if you tried. It isn't fragile.

But chances are with the fitment issues you're having that if you DO get it to latch you won't get it to unlatch.

What brand is the hood?

Never had an issue installing a hood. It was remove the old one and replace with new. The only time I ever see someone have issues like this is if the radiator support was damaged in an accident.

I had small issues when I put my carbon hood on, but I think it was because I put a coupe hood on my eg8 sedan... but I had to sand down the hook that cathes on the hood because it was hitting... also you sould think about notching the latch on the hood itself so you can adjust it to catch properly

yeah so i removed the rubber things and radiator stay bracket and its still not closing. I even adjusted the part the hood connect to car it has a small adjustment where it raises and lowers. so i raised it as much as it would go, not even a 1/4 inch and it still didnt work..

now when you say NOTCH do you mean take it from a square form to maybe what U shape?

the part that is on the hood is square, and has four bolt holes... notch the holes a little so you can move that piece either forward or backwards(towards the front of the car or towards the firewall), this might give you the adjustment you need to get it to fit...
I had tho sand this down, because it was too tall, and was not allowing my hood to latch correctly

I've had this problem with my cf hood for a while now. It doesnt close right sometimes and i have to move the latch on the hood left or right (towards the fenders) to get it to close. I figured out if i mess with that enough and get it to the right spot i just go pull the hood latch again and then it will close almost every time. Hope this helps.

as long as you push down firmly, directly over the latch, you wont have a problem. obviously you dont want to let the hood slam down like a metal hood. its isnt heavy enough to close on its own and you risk damage.

get hood pins ASAP. i wouldnt trust a fiberglassed latch on its own

I had this issue a long time ago when I had a Seibon CF hood on my EG. Hopefully it doesn't get too cold where you are becaues it will be even harder to close in the winter.
