This is annoying the hell out of me, HELP!!
I'm running a Skunk2 short shifter which hangs extremely low, it cleared my then 5Zigen Fireball exhaust b-pipe fine. However, I sold that exhaust 2 weeks ago and had to re-install my OEM Si exhaust back on. The bottom of the shifter sat directly on the factory b-pipe so I visited a muffler shop to bend down the single hanger on the b-pipe (near shifter area) so that the piping will hang lower. I thought everything was good to go but.........
Now at freeway cruising speeds, there's this annoying leak somewhere. I completely unbolted all connection points of the OEM exhaust including the cat to header connection, and then rebolted everything back together. That still didn't fix the problem, I still hear the leak. All connection points are as tight as can be.
Anyone have any idea where it might be leaking? That 1 metal hanger that they bent, could it be somehow that they punctured an extremely tiny hole or crack there? There's this aluminum heatshield plate around the hanger so I can't see if that's the case or not. Any thoughts on what could be causing my exhaust leak and the best way to diagnose this problem?

I highly doubt that the mid pipe where they bent the hanger is where the leak is coming from. The stock midpipes are what's called an air-gap pipe design. The diameter looks nice and big but that is just because it is another pipe over the middle one. So even if they craked the surface, which I doubt, I still don't think it will leak. It is probably leaking from the stock manifold/header to mid-pipe. By changing exhausts a couple of times it is possible that the little O-ring gasket needs to be replaced.

I went ahead and got all 3 new replacement exhaust gaskets from Honda. I hope this will do the trick. This has seriously been driving me nuts the past few weeks.

vrroooo-bwwwwwaaaaaaa.....vrrroooo...
i had the same problem. leaked like hell. thought it was gasket. when i got my motor installed, i needed a certain cat and instead they threw on a test pipe cuz i couldn't wait to take it home. little did i know, the o2 sensor was missing. so i got my old one and threw it back on.
