Default AMS Oil!!!!

I've heard nothing but great things about this company, and that they were the first one's to invent Full synthetic oil. But i just want to know if anybody has had any experiences with it in their Honda. My bro and i have used Mobile 1 forever and they say it out-performs that, and it is guaranteed to last up to 25,000 miles.

-And if anybody wants some, hit me up.

Anybody stupid enough to let their motor run for 25K on the same gallon doesn't deserve the Razor scooter they're gonna be pushing when their motor siezes.

Oil doesn't wear out, it gets dirty, and the polymers shear making it thicker with age. It'll eventually clog your pickup screen and oil filter, starving your engine of oil, especially at start-up.

Um... Speaking of which... What are you doing about an oil filter? Do they make oil filters guaranteed for 25K miles too?!?!?

Also, the last I heard, "AMS oil" has a lot of zinc in it. And, zinc kills cat converters and O2 sensors over time...

If it was me, I'd stick with Mobil 1...

Supposedly Amsoil is a high drain oil. Heard nothing but good things too.

And they make the new Amsoil EA0 oil filters that are guarenteed to work up to 25K miles....They are made of special strands of fibre. Something like nanofibres they said.

Just telling you what I heard. It seems like a good invest which can save money down the road, depending on how much you get the oil for, you have to weigh in differences in price. So I dunno.

Below the fill line is not the problem. You can use oil for 30K and not lose a drop if you're not leaking.

I need to check out that Zinc thing. Its just to bad that they leave out the clogging part out of their advertisement. And as far as price, i can get it for around $6.00 a quart. I'll have all of the test info on it later.

The cheapest I ever paid was $3.50/qt but lately it's around 6 bones...

To tell you the truth, if it goes much higher, I'm switching to Red Line! ($8/qt around here)

My uncle hooked me up with a Case of 5w-30 AMSOIL, Along with the new oil filter. I also did an AMSOIL system flush before I did my oil change. Considering I only drive like 10miles a day, I'll let you guys know how clean my oil is in the 2-3years it takes me to hit 25k miles
But I plan on changing it around 5-7k miles. Since I still have 8quaarts of it sitting in my room.

So do you guys agree that Redline is better than Mobile 1? And do you think Ams oil is worth $5 a quart?

You are smoking crack if you'd run your engine to 25K on an OCI. Don't bash other oils for the sole purpose of glorifying yours. There is no best oil. The best oil is the one that gives YOUR motor the best UOA. Now that I'm done bitching, yes, Amsoil is a pretty reputable company.

All questions and answers about Amsoil or any other oil can be done here at this link: http://theoildrop.server101.co...s.php

Amsoil is an excellent oil. Their oil formula has changed little over the years and is very much like their original formula since 1972. Mobil has since then come up with all kinds of different formulas, many of lesser performance.

25K mi or 6month oil drain intervals are very possible with Amsoil and they have advertised this since the 1970's. There are plenty of regular daily drivers already doing this.

I on the other hand would recommend if your using Amsoil to change every 8K to 12Kmi for all motor apps, and 6K to 8K for turbo apps. For track cars 4K-6K mi or as often as needed. This is just my opinion as people may beg to differ or argue. But if your changing often already at 3K mi or so Mobil 1, Redline, Royal Purple is just fine too.

I curently want to test out the Amsoil Synthetic Synchromesh formula, its Amsoil's replacement for the Honda MTF or GM synchromesh.

That website has a lot of good info. But people tend to hate on anything thats not Honda MTF, some people have even said Royal Purple has messed up their tranny's. That part that convinces me is that its guaranteed to last up to 25,000 miles.

Use it. I do, and before that I had Redline MTL in there. The Amsoil 5w30 MTF runs and shifts much better for me. Both are better than the Honda MTF I had in before that. And its syntethic, and its only about $5.99-6.99 per qt around me. The only other brand I'd consider is Specialty Formulations honda-version mtf.

no gl-4 gear oil or transmission fluid will prevent a missed shift or synchros grinded together purposely. So as far as I know, there is no transmission fluid that has a guarantee. A transmission sees different wear and hardly any outside contaminents (compared to an engine for example) because its a 'sealed' system.

Thanks for answering that. I also heard, if it matters, that using Ams oil doesnt void your warranty. But i havent heard that using a certain oil will void your warranty. ????

Well fellas, I have to confess, I have been running AMS oil for about 80 of the 96k on my 04 LX and I couldn't be happier really. I was changing my oil every 20k and filter (I was running WIX) every 10k. This last change I am running both the AMS oil and the AMS oil filter to the 25k mark.

Oil looks great still at 20k, car runs great, gas mileage is stellar (150 miles a day) and best of all, the oil cost me $2 more then Mobile.

All the Mobile 1 guys, try some AMS oil and you won't be sorry.

NO, I AM NOT A DISTRIBUTOR so I'm not trying to sell you.

Amsoil is good, but most oils out there are GF-4/SM rated anyway, so it's not like you're going to get a really shitty one. Unless you are **** and have UOA's done, I doubt most would notice the difference between similar oils (regarding GIV vs. GIV, etc).
