Amber buls in cluster Q
Ok I know this is in the faqs but I had a Q.I went to a auto parts store yesterday and to my surprise they had Sylvania Amber bulbs for the cluster as in the 24s and the 194.Has anyone ever tried these amber bulbs? Are they better than dying them?I know that at the faqs someone tried some but decided to go with red but I think that might be to much.Any opinions on this.

no need for a write up man. its pretty straight forward you wanna-be JDM then take out the cluster and swap bulbs. If not then be cool and get some white-face gauges that light up blue at night (lol yuk... i was j/k) not really a big comitment... but i say go AMBER lets see em

hmmm... i just took the bulbs out of my DC cluster and I noticed they have a blue translucent film coated over them. I'm guessing since the bulbs are blue and they give off a white light. Then maybe if the bulb is amber it will give off either a yellowish orange(i guess thats what amber is...). Maybe if you use red it will give off a color that is similiar to the dark orange in the EM1 clusters. i say get the red ones and take some pics

agreed. white light bulbs in the cluster is so USDM and boring. I think if they were amber they would look very bold and stand out more. keep us posted I am looking forward to the pics. I would like to try this out myself

Well the **** is that I would have to order the red ones of the internet with the probability of them breaking during shipping. And on the other hand I can buy the amber ones from the auto parts store and swap them out in less than 10 min.And yeah I did notice my bulbs had a blue type of cover on them. That's what I was wondering.Since does are blue they come out white, how will the amber ones look. But I guess I might as well try them its only about 10 bucks for the bulbs. But honestly think RED bulbs might be overkill.

hmm...i have a theory. what if you peel off the blue stuff and took a red sharpie and colored them. I mean your gonna be replacing them with ambers anyways why not experiment. I'm cheap *** hell so I'm just gonna go buy a red sharpie instead of red 194 bulbs lol

WTF? That would peel off don't you think.Mayeb red is not that JDM.**** come to think about it I guess they would look kind of like the beamer type of interior. And I think that type of color is cool atleast better than white.Come to think about it I was driving my dads 2008 tacoma and the cluster is sweet in that yellow orangy color.

I used the Sylvania Amber #24's and 194's to do my guage cluster, instrument panel, and climate control in my 97 civic. Looks as oem as oem can get. Pretty easy to do to.

Its not that great great great...I mean better than white but not exactly it.I took pics of it but haven't been able to post them will do when I get the red bulbs in maybe tommorow.Once I have pics with both setups ill post the pics. But believe me the ones this guy posted look dark but in reality they look pretty orangy/yellowish in a way.So I don't come close to Beamers or my dads Tacoma.LoL.Patience ill post as soon as I change for red bulbs and ill tell you wich one looks best and why with some pics.Ill update hopefully tommorow.Atleast that's when im hoping the bulbs come in.
