see i have my whole motor out and I want it looking pristine when I put it in the car - any tips? Basically all I do is spray simple green on a tooth brush and scrub. Any other ideas what I should do - thanks D

I heard Simple Green is quite hard on the paint... Might not be a good idea unless you wax afterwards.

Simple Green will strip wax, its quite good at it actually - I use it twice a year to get the car stripped, then Mother Clay, then wax.
Get a spray bottle and dilute at least 10:1 - works great on rims and fenderwells too.
As for cleaning while the motors out, spend a couple of hours down in there. Have a bucket with Simple Green and a bucket to rinse, easy, just takes time.

I had my car painted grey a while back and I couldn't afford him to paint the engine bay. Is it ok use touch up paint to spray it. I want it black.

you missed the spot under your radiator hoses...lol
I used one of those engine detailer kits the other day, it worked awesome. You have to spray the motor down with bottle one with the engine warm, then hose it all down, then let the motor run so everything dries up, then spray with bottle two then drive for 15 minutes, then wipe off...everything comes out incredible..
