Default Am i right or wrong?

I was just at a car show and a guy said he had an si motor and a vtec in his car, and when he popped his hood his motor was stamped d16z6. I thought the si's had b series motors and only b's were vtec. Am I wrong?

technically wrong, just misinformed. your thinking about the 99-00 si motors (b16a2)
but the motor he was refering to was 92-95 si motor. im not even sure if the d16z6 was the si motor? maybe it was the d15? but nevertheless, you get the point.

hopefully i get this in before anyone flames you for that question.

first of all...what kind of car was it in for one? secondly the D16Z6 came in the 92-95 Civic Si and EX, both being SOHC VTEC, as well as the 93-95 Del Sol Si. if you want more information on the motors go here http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/specs.htm. now to the last part of your post... B series motors are not the only VTEC motors, by far they are not....there is also the D, H, F, and K. of course they may have their different versions of VTEC, its still the same general idea.

hope that helps you out.

Thanks, it was in a 92 civic dx, I was misimformed about the sohc vtec, for some reason i thought only b series were. It was just funny that everyone at the show was making a big deal about the swap.

lol..technically he is right. It is an si motor, but yea like the other members have mentioned its a single came 125 (right?) hp motor. so the guy was bragging how it was an si motor? lol..even in a dx..I still wouldnt be bragging about that kind of swap. what other mods was visable on the motor?
