Default Am i missing a ground

Ok, i have the ground to the valve cover

I also have a ground to the trans, however, i am missing the bracket where the ground attaches to the trans so i just have it grounded to the tarns itself.

I have the ground attached at the water housing (for harness)

And obviously the ground to the battery.

I am having alternator trouble i think? This is about the last place for me to look- I have checked everything else i can think of.

Problems is, car keeps running off the battery, i have used 2 differant alts, (both used) and it just drains the battery. I am going to buy a brand new alt. today and see if i just had 3 bad alternators (One on the car initially and the 2 used ones i bought)

Any thoughts?

make sure you are hooking the alt up properly with good tension on the belt. also if you think it is a grounding problem then just add a few grounds by making your own grounding kit. or just take it to a mechnic and have them figure it out and you fix it

Belt tension like mentioned above. Sounds like your alternator just isn't running enough to keep things going and charging the battery..

you might want to make sure that not only do you have grounds but that they are in good shape. you don't want any corrosion on them at all. also make sure that the leads coming in to your alternator are good and nor corroded as well.

also, make sure that the bolts on the grounds are tight. I had a similar problem, and I thought it was my alternator but turned out to be the bolt on top of the alternator that comes from the wiring warness. I just didn't have it tighten down all the way.

OK, i have checked (thuroughly) all grounds, all wiring.... I am beating myself over this. It wouldn't be an issue but i just did this swap (00' b16 in 98ek) and i used an auto harness. This means many variables...but not really-

What could cause an alternator to go bad?

I think i am being to paranoid of my workmanship and need to just go buy a "brand new" alternator and realize my wiring is fine
