Default alternator swap?

hello guys, im kind of confused and cant really seem to find anything that answers my question. so i have a 99 honda civic ex d16y8. im looking to replace my alternator (stock alt on my car is 70-75 amps) i noticed b series motors have more amps then d series. i want to know if any series obd2 motors alternator will work on my d16y8. i want a few more amps. if anyone has experimented with this before let me know what you found out.

also if they are some what interchangeable.. does anyone know what series motor came with the biggest amperage alternator?

i dont need peoples guess's on this so if you know 100% then let me know aswell

thanks for your help guys

thanks for the link! i didnt mention.. im into comp. car audio. im set in a certain class and i want to remain in the class. putting a high output alt in my car would bump me up a class that i dont want to be at. so using a stock altetnator is what i plan on doing.

i found a 99 gsr integra alternator is a 90 amp. much better then mine. it looks like it should be a direct fit from the pictures

Most of the HO alternators are just rewound stock units. I'm running a 165 amp one that I bought off of a seller on Ebay about 6 years ago.

Or units with a smaller spindle thing on it. I'm surprised you got one of the decent ones off eBay - I went through three that were smaller spindled, and they all basically blew up from being overworked after less than 3 months.

well on eBay they can't lie and if they do then they have to refund your money. if they don't refund and your clearly in the right to then eBay will refund your money and then get their lawyers after that seller. eBay is very safe to buy from you just have to read the fine print on the forsale page...

"Is this alternator modified internally, or did you just replace the spindle?"

"The alternator is modified internally to support higher output."

Yes, all three units were modified internally, but all three units also had a modified spindle. I'm not saying I had to pay for 3, but after the third one, I cut my losses and called it a day. Certain parts are too important to be trusted to eBay.

In my case the seller had a separate website that I could also research.

That's always good. If I ever get back into the car stereo game, I won't go anywhere but Ohio Generator. Those guys are absolutely amazing. When I first went through them, $350 got me a powder coated, 300amp alternator that ran solid for me for almost 3 years, and as far as I know is still running solid in the guy's car I sold it to. Seriously, those guys are the ****.
