Default Alternator question. Swap related.

hi, guys when you do a swap do you use the civic alternator or the one that is supposed to go with the engine you are getting? Reason is i want to get a lude swap but have a upgraded alternator for competition and need to keep this alternator. Is this possible?? Also my aftermarket alternator does NOT plug into the stock harness it is run by a separate regulator. Let me know. thanks...

Possibly could work, you'd just have to hold them side by side to tell the difference.

In general, everyone uses the alternator from the new swapped in motor. Your case appears to be special, and might work. Only way to know is to try it.

not sure about D to H series...

but the mounting points on the D-series differs from the B series.

Try holding them side-by-side

Are running the new alt. right now with the sohc? You can probably wire it up no problem, but I don't know if the belt or the mounting brackets will work.

alright thanks guys yeah the alternator is on my car now so when i get a swap it would have to go on with the new engine. To get this alternator they had to modify my stock bracket to fit anyways so i guess a little more modification is expected.
