Alternator On its Way Out? 00 Civic EX
Hey everyone, got a 2000 Civic EX with 196k and it seems like the alternator is on its way out.
Engine is stock other than a Cold Air intake, I do have a projector retrofit in the car with a 35w HID kit with a relay harness. also have a aftermarket stereo system. other than that the car is like any other civic on the road.
I have been having issues with the lights flickering inside and out of the car. by flickering i mean dimming in and out and occasionally the lights fully shutting off and coming back on. The SRS light does also come on randomly and shuts back off.
What's also odd is that the lights do stop flickering like everything is normal randomly as well.
I have checked to see if fuse 15 is still good which it is, i did also check the o2 sensor harness which did have stripped wires, i did put electrical tape around the exposed wires. Nothing has changed. no CEL's
I do have an OBD Code Reader and while driving it was fluctuating between 14V to 15V.
I have also tightened the Belt and cleaned the ground cables to rule anything out.
So the question is, is the alternator going to crap out soon or am i looking at other issues.

It sounds like the alternator. Time to replace it for sure. I'm not sure if the battery light comes on when there's low voltage issues. I never seen that happen on my 00 ex. Mine has 182k miles on it.
