Alternator, Ground out, short out all worse at certain RPM?
First off, it's an EM1 with about 103k on it. I have a perpetual CEL for a secondary o2 sensor.
I've noticed the CEL dims when approaching a stop on hotter than usual days. At around 2400 rpm when accelerating the light brightens back up. I thought it would be an alternator issue however, this doesn't happen all the time. I turned the lights on an off while sitting and the car doesn't bog down. There is a fluctuation but its not that noticeable. When I tap the brakes to make the taillights come on it makes the cel dim then immediately brighten up. Also, when I crank up the stereo further than usual the cel doesn't dim when the bass hits.
Is it more than likely a short out or ground wire issue in the lights?

Also there is no charge system light coming on while driving or stopped or anything.

i have seen where the main thick cable from the alternator about 4 to 12 inches away rubs through slightly on a bracket it touches or passes through, and when the motor moves to certain positions, it lowers vehicle voltage.

Would you recommend wrapping it or replacing it?
