Default Alternator gone...?

Alright...

Today I was at the gas station i turned my car off, pumped the gas, ect. When I got back in the car to leave I went to start the car, and nothing happened. I thought it was the battery, so I poped the hood and made sure I had good connections. Connections were good, but when I touched the negitive terminal to the battery, the car started beeping ( car door was open, and keys were turned to "on"). Got in the car, started right up, no problem at all. I also have a radar detector that said the car battery was in good shape.

5 Miles Down the road I got a CEL. Didnt know what it was for because it went off next time I started the car. So my girlfriend come over, and we ate dinner. I went to bring her home, car wouldnt start. Tried playing with the terminals and nothing happened this time. I thought maybe the alternator died and sucked all the juice out of the battery?? Idk, just an idea.

Lemme know what you guys think it is.

Do the poor-man's alternator test. Start your car, and take off the negative terminal. If your car dies, you probably need a new alternator.
